Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt Reportedly Selling Famed Chateau Miraval
Apparently Chateau Miraval, the 35-room French country estate and vineyard owned by Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, is another piece of collateral damage in the year’s most headline-making celebrity divorce. According to Us Weekly, the couple is unloading the entire 1,200-acre spread.
“The home has been valued and is going on the market any day now,” an insider told the gossip site.
The ultra-famous actors bought the chateau in 2012 for a reported $60 million and chose it as the location of their secret wedding in August 2014. In addition to its massive room count, the property also features fit-for-royalty details like terraced hillsides, olive groves, pine forests, a private lake, and (because, why not?) a moat. The asking price for the estate has yet to be revealed.
As far as the vineyard goes, it’s not just for show: The couple produces their highly regarded rosé on the grounds, although changes are reportedly ahead for the varietal.
‘It currently says ‘Jolie-Pitt’ on the Château Miraval bottles, and the next season’s batch will have a new reprinted label with no names written on it,’ sources told Us Weekly.
The 41-year-old actress filed for divorce on Sept. 19 citing irreconcilable differences and requesting sole physical custody of the Jolie-Pitt brood: Maddox, 15; Pax, 12; Zahara, 11; Shiloh, 10; and 8-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox.
The kids are reportedly living with Ms. Jolie in a 4,400-square-foot L.A rental that’s near the beach and includes a lagoon-style heated pool, a media room, an in-home theater, and a gourmet kitchen.
Reps for both stars didn’t immediately return request for comment.
